Agenda

Workshop A: Mechanisms to achieve financial sustainability

Governance should regularly evaluate whether the business model adopted by the executive is effective and produces a sustainable return on equity. If the organization fails to generate this return, its capital will erode over time, preventing it from investing in technology or innovative practices. In such cases, the only viable options are to shut down or pursue a merger.

There are ongoing calls for additional revenue streams to improve providers’ EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation), but data shows that, although increased revenue from the government or consumers is essential, it is not a standalone solution to ensuring financial sustainability.

This workshop is focused on equipping aged care providers with the strategies, information, and capabilities necessary to achieve long-term financial sustainability and comply with Financial and Prudential Standards.

Key learning objectives:

  • Identify key drivers in achieving financial sustainability for different types of providers
  • Strategies on how to maximise revenue while considering the implications of co-contributions for consumers
  • Create the right team architecture with appropriate capabilities and how to cultivate a culture that inspires performance of the highest caliber
  • Learn best practices of effective care rostering and resource allocation
